Hola, Elina, saludos desde Swords en Latinoamérica y Collector of Dark Sounds. ¿Cómo estás? ¿Desde dónde respondes hoy y cómo está el tiempo?

¡Hola y saludos desde Alemania! El tiempo ha estado bastante loco últimamente, muy cálido con algunas tormentas eléctricas y al día siguiente lloviendo y haciendo frío. ¡El típico verano!

Ayer se anunció una gira por Latinoamérica, ¡tu primera gira en nuestro continente! La respuesta de los fans ha sido muy positiva y sorprendente. ¿Cuáles son tus expectativas para esta nueva gira? Nuestra identidad es que somos muy apasionados cuando se trata de conciertos. ¿Estás lista?

¡Por fin se ha dado a conocer la gran noticia y ha sido increíble para nosotros ver las reacciones! Como has mencionado, será mi primera vez en Latinoamérica, así que no sé exactamente qué esperar, pero, por supuesto, he conocido a mucha gente de países latinoamericanos y me encanta la energía y el entusiasmo que tienen por la música y las bandas. ¡Tengo muchas ganas de tocar por fin allí en directo!

Muchos fans han escrito preguntando si podrán visitarlos en México, Perú, Uruguay y otros países. ¿Quedan fechas por anunciar?

Habrá otras fechas anunciadas y, por supuesto, siempre haremos todo lo posible por visitar tantos países y lugares como sea posible.

Estuviste de gira por Europa, en el Wacken Open Air (por segunda vez) y, muy recientemente, en el Celtic Rock Open Air. ¿Cómo fueron esos conciertos?

El concierto del Wacken en 2023 fue increíble, volvimos a tener mucha suerte con el tiempo y hacer una gran producción como esa siempre es emocionante y muy gratificante. El Celtic Rock Open Air fue el escenario perfecto para Leaves' Eyes, organizado en un precioso castillo y, de nuevo, el tiempo fue perfecto y el público fue increíble. También disfrutamos teniendo a nuestra Viking Crew en los conciertos siempre que es posible.


Sabemos que el álbum Myths of Fate todavía tiene canciones que no se han tocado en directo y que incluso sus álbumes anteriores también tienen canciones que nunca se han tocado en el escenario. ¿Tendremos sorpresas como esas en el setlist para Latinoamérica?

Es cierto que es bastante raro que se toquen todas las canciones en directo, pero especialmente The Last Viking funcionaría muy bien en su conjunto, ya que es un álbum conceptual. Sin embargo, también queremos incluir una buena selección de todos los álbumes y una buena mezcla de canciones que funcionen para un concierto en directo, así que ya veremos cuál será el repertorio definitivo para Latinoamérica. A menudo es muy difícil elegir.

¿Cuál es tu canción favorita para tocar en un concierto?

Hay muchas, por diferentes razones. Me gustan las canciones heavy como Edge of Steel y Forged by Fire, pero también las canciones groovy como Who wants to live Forever y las épicas como Realm of Dark Waves.

En 2026, habrás estado con Leaves' Eyes durante 10 años. ¿Cómo ha sido toda esta experiencia para ti? Me gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para agradecerte todo el corazón que le has dedicado a la banda. Has sido una parte fundamental de ella.

El tiempo ha pasado volando y estoy muy agradecida por todas las oportunidades que se me han presentado desde que me uní a Leaves' Eyes. Ha sido un viaje increíble, de gira por todo el mundo y creando música, desarrollándome vocalmente y como persona a lo largo de los años. ¡Muchas gracias!

Por otro lado, sabemos que estás trabajando con la banda en un nuevo EP. ¿Puedes adelantarnos algo?

Siempre nos gusta descubrir nuevas facetas de la música y, al mismo tiempo, mantener el sonido único de la banda. Este EP no es una excepción y siempre es muy emocionante sacar nueva música.

No puedo dejar de mencionar tu banda Angel Nation. ¿Qué le depara el futuro a esta increíble banda?

Ha sido muy difícil después del Brexit (salida de Reino Únido de la Unión Europea), ya que los chicos viven en el Reino Unido y perdimos el acceso a nuestra página de Facebook, que todavía no he recuperado. Los costes de las giras se han disparado debido a muchos factores, así que es un poco triste cómo los acontecimientos han frenado todo. Sin embargo, sigo componiendo todo el tiempo, esta vez material muy diferente, así que ya veremos en qué forma verán la luz estas nuevas composiciones algún día.


Sé que has participado en grandes producciones operísticas a lo largo de tu carrera y que también has sido profesora de canto. ¿Cómo ha sido tu experiencia y tienes algún otro proyecto en este momento?

Ha sido increíble formar parte de tantos tipos diferentes de producciones, desde ópera hasta metal. También he hecho bastantes apariciones vocales como invitada, ¡lo cual siempre es genial! La enseñanza es una parte importante de mi vida y también me ha aportado mucho, ya que me desarrollo constantemente a través de la enseñanza y la interpretación. Como he mencionado, sigo siendo creativa musicalmente, escribiendo nuevas canciones, ¡y también estamos en proceso de grabar el próximo álbum de Leaves' Eyes!

Sabemos que encontraste el amor en la música y que actualmente mantienes una relación con el talentoso Dominik Prykiel. ¿Cómo te sientes, feliz? 

Ha sido un año increíble, con grandes cambios y muchas cosas positivas en mi vida. Es fantástico poder compartir la música con él.

Nos gustaría inaugurar esta sección contigo, ya que será una pregunta habitual en futuras entrevistas con otros cantantes: ¿Qué consejo le darías a alguien que está pasando por un momento difícil en su vida para ayudarle a sentirse mejor?

Todo el mundo pasa por momentos difíciles en la vida y, para mí, siempre es importante procesar lo que sea y no esconder las cosas bajo la alfombra. Por supuesto, es genial tener a alguien con quien hablar, con quien reflexionar, con quien obtener perspectiva y apoyo durante estos momentos. A veces parece que no va a terminar nunca, pero el tiempo ayuda, las cosas mejoran y, después, puede que haya una persona completamente nueva que atraiga cosas mejores para el futuro.

Elina, muchas gracias por tu valioso tiempo. Estamos deseando verte en los conciertos aquí en Latinoamérica. ¿Alguna última palabra para tus fans?

Hello Elina, greetings from Swords in Latin America and Collector of Dark Sounds. How are you? Where are you responding from today, and how is the weather?

Hello and greetings back from Germany! The weather has been pretty crazy lately, very warm with some thunder storms and then next day raining and chilly! Typical summer!

Yesterday, a tour of Latin America was announced, your first tour on our continent! The response from fans has been very positive and surprising. What are your expectations for this new tour? Our identity is that we are very passionate when it comes to concerts. Are you ready?

The great news is indeed finally out and it’s been amazing for us to see the reactions! As you mentioned, it will be my first time in Latin America so I don’t know exactly what to expect, but of course I’ve met many people from Latin American countries and I love the energy and enthusiasm you have for music and bands! I’m very much looking forward to finally play live there!

Many fans have written asking if you can visit them in Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, and other countries. Are there still dates to be announced?

There  will be other dates announced and of course we will always do our best to visit as many countries and places as possible! 

You were on tour in Europe, at Wacken Open Air (your second time) and very recently at Celtic Rock Open Air. How were those shows?

The Wacken show in 2023 was amazing, we were very lucky with the weather once again and doing a big production like that is always exciting and very rewarding! Celtic Rock Open Air was perfect setting for Leaves’ Eyes, organised in a beautiful castle and again, weather was perfect and the audience was amazing! We also enjoy having our Viking Crew at the shows whenever possible.

We know that the album Myths of Fate still has songs that haven't been played live and that your previous albums also have songs that have never been played on stage. Will we have surprises like that in the setlist for Latin America?

It’s true, that it’s pretty rare that all the songs would get played live, but especially The Last Viking would work as a whole very well since it’s a concept album. However, we also want to cover a good selection from across albums and a good mix of songs to work for a live set, so let’s see what will be the final set for Latin America. It’s often very challenging to have to choose!

What is your favorite song to play at a concert?

There are many, for different reasons. I like heavy songs like Edge of Steel and Forged by Fire, but also groovy songs like Who wants to live Forever and epic one like Realm of Dark Waves.

In 2026, you will have been with Leaves' Eyes for 10 years. How has this whole experience been for you? I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the heart you have given to the band. You have been a fundamental part of it. 

Time has really flown and I’m extremely thankful for all the opportunities that have come to me since joining Leaves’ Eyes. It’s been a wild journey, touring all over the world and creating music, developing vocally and as a person over the year! Thank you very much!

On the other hand, we know that you are working with the band on a new EP. Can you give us a sneak peek?

We always like to find new sides to the music and at the same time maintain the unique sound of the band. So this EP is no exception and it’s always very exiting to bring out new music!

I can't leave out your band Angel Nation. What does the future hold for this incredible band?

It’s been very challenging after Brexit since the guys are living in UK, we lost the access to our facebook page, which I still don’t have back. Touring costs have skyrocketed due to many factors, so it’s a bit sad how the developments have put a break to everything. I do keep writing all the time though, this time very different material, so let’s see in which form these new compositions  see the light one day!

I know you have been part of great opera productions throughout your career and that you have also been a singing teacher. How has your experience been and do you have any other projects at the moment?

It’s been amazing to be a part of so many different kind of productions from opera to metal. I’ve also done quite a few guest vocal appearances which is always great too! Teaching is a big part of my life and it has given a lot for me too as I develop constantly through teaching and performing. As I mentioned, I keep being creative musically, writing new songs and we are also in the process of making the next Leaves’ Eyes album!

We know that you found love in music and that you are currently in a relationship with the talented Dominik Prykiel. How are you feeling, happy? (optional)

It’s been an incredible year, huge changes and a lot of positive things have been brought into my life. It’s great to be able to share the music with him too and I definitely feel the happiest I ever have!

We would like to inaugurate this section with you, as it will be a regular question for future interviews with other singers: For someone who is going through a difficult time in their life, what advice would you give them to help them feel better?

Everyone goes through rough times in life and for me it’s always important to process whatever it is and not to brush things under a carpet. Of course it’s great to have someone to talk to, to reflect with, to get perspective and support during these moments. Sometimes it feels never-ending, but time will help, it will get better and afterwards there just might be a whole new person who will attract better things for the future!
