Español (English Below):La siguiente reseña se realiza de
una forma muy positiva, dado al descubrimiento de la banda Opia, ya que, no
solo es un debut magnifico, también demuestra que el género Gothic Metal aún está
en buenas manos y más vivo que nunca. Esto se puede apreciar en su álbum I Welcome
Thee, Eternal Sleep, lanzado el 25 de abril del presente año.

El álbum inicia con These Pristine
Memories, una intro con un trabajo de cuerdas crudo pero bello, son sutiles, no
obstante, mantiene esa oscuridad clásica del género, en donde en el fondo
escuchamos un sonido de tambor ligero, como si te encontraras en un frÃo bosque.
De lleno llega On Death’s Door Part
I, que te remonta a esos hermosos 90’s, en donde Theatre of Tragedy reinaba Europa.
En esta canción la banda entra con mucha fuerza, el trabajo de guitarras, bajo
y baterÃa es sublime, potente, como una tormenta de lluvia y frio. Destacar
otro protagonista importante en esta composición y que es quien es el encargado
de abrazar toda esta música y son el trabajo de teclados, me encanta el uso de
sonidos y “piano”, embellecen totalmente todo. No podemos dejar de lado el gran
trabajo vocal, en donde nos entrega dos áreas de su vocalista Tereza, dado a
que te golpea sus intrigantes guturales y al mismo tiempo una voz tan suave
como de una sirena, es increÃble que en la primera canción ya logras enamorarte
de la música de Opia, un hermoso inicio para un hermoso disco.
La siguiente canción Man
Proposes, God Disposes inicia lento con un guitarra casi triste y un bajo que
acompaña esto y es aquà donde encontramos el Gothic Doom Metal clásico. No
obstante, debo agregar que las comparaciones siempre serán minimas, dado a que
logro apreciar la identidad de la banda, puedo apreciar su composición y como
quieren entregar las canciones, eso esta muy claro. Además de que no son
músicos en si nuevos, dado a que varios de ellos vienen de otras increÃbles bandas
tales como Ofnus, Scandelion, Agrona Dystopian Wrath y otras. No obstante, la
unión de sus integrantes ha creado una hermosa obra musical.

A continuación, se encuentra The
Fade, otra hermosa canción, con tintes oscuros que se agradecen en estos
tiempos, necesitamos aún música que nos lleve a ese aspecto más negro de la
vida desde la reflexión de las temáticas que nos suceden dÃa a dÃa. El coro de
esta canción se te queda en la cabeza, toda la banda se acompaña de forma
elegante, todo esta en el lugar que corresponde.
Por otro lado, The Eye inicia
hipnotizante, es una canción cautivadora y serena, es el acompañamiento perfecto
para noches de introspección. Aquà se aprecia el aspecto más instrumental de la
banda, dado a que toma fuerza a medida que pasa la canción, en donde somos
testigos del enorme talento de estas personas y que es necesario poder mantener
tu atención en todo, el disco definitivamente no tiene espacios vacÃos o
flojos, se encuentra estructurado a la perfección. Resaltar nuevamente el
trabajo de sintetizadores, es quien te entrega esa pequeña luz en toda esta
oscuridad.
Esta es la contraparte de The
Eye, este es uno de los puntos totalmente fuertes y que debo reconocer que no
pude evitar mover mi cabeza al ritmo de las guitarras, bajo y baterÃa, es una
canción simplemente exquisita. La voz aquà es puramente gutural y es totalmente
necesario. Además, aquà se utiliza más el sonido de piano en la parte coral, lo
que le da esa crudeza necesaria, una canción increÃble, ¡Bravo!
Silence es una canción que vuelve
a la calma, pero que no necesariamente indica el momento flojo del álbum, más
bien es otro espacio sonoro digno de fans de Draconian, dado a que utiliza
elementos que a los verdaderos amantes del Gothic Metal encantaran.
Finalmente, On Death Door Part
II, la canción más larga del álbum y un cierre perfecto, es potencia, es
belleza, es todo lo que necesita para terminar un glorioso disco. La banda en
su totalidad se entrega a todo, se aprecia el profesionalismo en todos ellos.
El trabajo de baterÃa es bestial, aparece en los momentos más fuertes. Sin
embargo, los cambios de ritmos abruptos son necesarios, ya que le da dinamismo
a esta pieza. El solo de guitarra final solo tiene una palabra correcta, EPICO,
es el momento más emocionante de todo, es el cierre que necesitaba.
Definitivamente me encuentro ante
uno de los debuts más importantes de los últimos tiempos, Opia llega en un
momento en que es necesario más bandas fieles a los orÃgenes del Gothic Metal,
por que tienen todo lo que se necesita, oscuridad, que no debe verse como algo
negativo, más bien que es necesario en la música hoy en dia y que este disco
esta en mi top 10 lanzados este año 2025.

ENGLISH: The following review is very positive, given the discovery of the band Opia, as not only is it a magnificent debut, but it also shows that the Gothic Metal genre is still in good hands and more alive than ever. This can be seen in their album I Welcome Thee, Eternal Sleep, released on April 25 of this year.
The album begins with These Pristine Memories, an intro with raw but beautiful string work. It is subtle, yet maintains the classic darkness of the genre, where in the background we hear a light drum sound, as if you were in a cold forest.
On Death's Door Part I comes in full force, taking you back to those beautiful 90s, when Theatre of Tragedy reigned supreme in Europe. In this song, the band comes in with a lot of power, the guitar, bass, and drum work is sublime, powerful, like a storm of rain and cold. Another important protagonist in this composition is the keyboard work, which is responsible for embracing all this music. I love the use of sounds and “piano,” which totally embellish everything. We cannot overlook the great vocal work, where we are treated to two sides of vocalist Tereza, as she hits you with her intriguing guttural vocals and at the same time a voice as soft as a siren's. It's incredible that in the first song you already fall in love with Opia's music, a beautiful start to a beautiful album.
The next song, Man Proposes, God Disposes, starts slowly with an almost sad guitar and accompanying bass, and it is here that we find classic Gothic Doom Metal. However, I must add that comparisons will always be minimal, given that I can appreciate the band's identity, I can appreciate their composition and how they want to deliver the songs, that is very clear. In addition, they are not new musicians, as several of them come from other incredible bands such as Ofnus, Scandelion, Agrona Dystopian Wrath, and others. Nevertheless, the union of its members has created a beautiful musical work.
Next up is The Fade, another beautiful song with dark undertones that are welcome in these times. We still need music that takes us to that darker side of life through reflection on the issues that happen to us every day. The chorus of this song sticks in your head, the whole band accompanies each other elegantly, everything is in its right place.
On the other hand, The Eye starts off mesmerizingly; it is a captivating and serene song, the perfect accompaniment for nights of introspection. Here, the band's more instrumental side is evident, as it gains strength as the song progresses, where we witness the enormous talent of these people and how it is necessary to maintain your attention throughout. The album definitely has no empty or weak spaces; it is structured to perfection. Once again, the synthesizers stand out, providing that little light in all this darkness.
This is the counterpart to The Eye. It is one of the strongest tracks, and I must admit that I couldn't help but move my head to the rhythm of the guitars, bass, and drums. It is simply an exquisite song. The vocals here are purely guttural and totally necessary. In addition, the piano sound is used more in the choral part, which gives it the necessary rawness. It is an incredible song. Bravo!
Silence is a song that returns to calm, but that doesn't necessarily indicate a weak moment on the album. Rather, it's another soundscape worthy of Draconian fans, given that it uses elements that true lovers of Gothic Metal will adore.
Finally, On Death Door Part II, the longest song on the album and a perfect closer, is powerful, beautiful, and everything you need to end a glorious album. The band as a whole gives it their all, and their professionalism is evident in every member. The drumming is beastly, appearing at the strongest moments. However, the abrupt rhythm changes are necessary, as they give this piece its dynamism. The final guitar solo can only be described with one word: EPIC. It is the most exciting moment of all, the ending it needed.
I am definitely witnessing one of the most important debuts in recent times. Opia arrives at a time when there is a need for more bands faithful to the origins of Gothic Metal, because they have everything that is needed: darkness, which should not be seen as something negative, but rather as something necessary in music today. This album is in my top 10 releases of 2025.
