Morten Veland, lÃder y guitarrista
de Sirenia ha iniciado una nueva etapa de su proyecto Mortemia, en donde presentara
diversas canciones tipo covers de clásicos de nuestro tiempo. En esta ocasión
inicia con la increÃble Dianne Van Giersbergen la canción “Like a Hurricane” de
Neil Young lanzada en 1977.
El track inicia con el poder de
la guitarra de Morten que dan movimiento y ambiente a la canción, entregando
potencia a lo que nos estamos encontrando, esto a fin de dar paso a una dulce
Dianne, que dulce siento que es la palabra correcta para definir la forma en la
que interpreta la canción.
El coro le hace honor a su nombre,
dado a que es un huracán sonoro, que te envuelve de forma fantástica. Además,
se puede observar que mantiene parte de la identidad de Mortem a lo largo de la
canción. He seguido la carrera de este caballero durante mucho tiempo y he
podido identificar ya el sonido que quiere de baterÃa, el ritmo de las
guitarras e incluso los sonidos de sintetizadores más escondidos y bellos. Siendo
algo que agradezco, dado a que Morten ha podido pulir su propio sonido e identidad
musical.
Continuando con Dianne, he de admitir
que agradezco que no sea totalmente una canción con su caracterÃstica voz de
soprano (una de las mejores en el tiempo actual por lo demás), dado a que nos
permite conocer más facetas de su talento y de su amplia capacidad vocal. Además,
si generamos el contraste con la canción original, ella respeta los ritmos de
Neil, por lo que es admirable su respeto hacia la música y a ella misma.
Finaliza la canción con el “huracán”
en su totalidad, entregando un cierre precioso, dado a que esta dupla logra
conectarse y mezclarse de forma adecuada.
Estoy expectante asi como
entusiasmado de las próximas canciones que nos regale Morten y Mortemia, dado a
que es necesario seguir disfrutando de su talento.

The track starts with the power of Morten's guitar that gives movement and atmosphere to the song, delivering power to what we are finding, this in order to give way to a sweet Dianne, I feel that sweet is the right word to define the way she interprets the song.
The chorus lives up to its name, since it is a sonorous hurricane that envelops you in a fantastic way. Also, you can see that it maintains part of Mortem's identity throughout the song. I have been following this gentleman's career for a long time and I have already been able to identify the sound he wants from the drums, the rhythm of the guitars and even the most hidden and beautiful synthesizer sounds. Being something I am grateful for, as Morten has been able to polish his own sound and musical identity.
Continuing with Dianne, I have to admit that I am grateful that it is not entirely a song with her characteristic soprano voice (one of the best in the current time by the way), since it allows us to know more facets of her talent and her wide vocal capacity. Also, if we contrast it with the original song, she respects Neil's rhythms, so her respect for the music and for herself is admirable.
The song ends with the “hurricane” in its entirety, delivering a beautiful closing, since this duo manages to connect and blend in a good way.
I am expectant as well as excited about the next songs that Morten and Mortemia will give us, since it is necessary to continue enjoying their talent.
