Xandria vuelve a chile y a Latinoamérica el próximo octubre del presente año, por lo tanto, es una oportunidad de poder analizar su último trabajo, el EP Universal Tales, con el fin de poder conocer lo que vamos a presenciar en el próximo show de la banda, generando una invitación de mi parte desde el interés musical y generar lo que se llama actualmente “hype”.

Recordar que previo a este trabajo, ya nos presentaron su último LP The Wonders Still Awaiting, que fue una carta de presentación para la nueva alineación de la banda, de la mano líder de Marco Heubaum quien ha estado a cargo de la guitarra, así como de gran parte de la escritura y producción. Además de dar la bienvenida a la nueva alineación de la agrupación, conformada por la vocalista Ambre Vourvahis, Tim Schwarz en el bajo, Dimitrios “Tacki” Gatsios en batería y Robert Klawonn en guitarra.

Si bien el presente EP cuenta cuatro nuevas canciones, además cuenta con una versión acústica de The Wonders Still Awaiting, así como versiones orquestales de las nuevas canciones, me quiero solo enfocar en las primeras cuatro.

El trabajo inicia con No Time to Live Forever con un coro magistral que invita a una épica entrada en donde la banda se presenta de forma potente, dando un gran trabajo instrumental, así como sinfónico. A continuación, Ambre hace presencia de forma dulce entregando luz a esta pieza, no obstante, en la parte del coro es donde despliega su talento en sus diversas áreas vocales, dado a que realiza cambios líricos impresionantes. Una gran canción para los fanáticos del metal sinfónico que dejara con un dulce sabor de boca. Resalta en la parte media de la canción grandes melodías en la voz de la vocalista, que nuevamente promueve a luz a esta gran canción. Cierra de manera magistral, con Ambre entregándose totalmente. Maravilloso.

Universal da continuación al trabajo entregado por Xandria, destaca nuevamente el gran trabajo en el uso de voces corales, que da fuerza teatral a la canción, es una canción más rítmica, con más movimientos instrumentales, en donde el trabajo de cuerdas eléctricas da más movimientos y una batería poderosa que entrega potencia. El coro es pegadizo, que invita a continuar luchando, donde debo agradecer el trabajo en las letras de las actuales canciones. Nuevamente en la parte intermedia podemos presenciar el gran talento de Ambre, con agudez en su voz sublime. Por mi parte es una de mis favoritas de este trabajo, que espero escuchar próximamente en su show aquí en chile el próximo 04 de octubre (más abajo se encontraran las fechas de su tour por Latinoamérica).

Ahora nos encontramos con 200 Years, iniciando con sonidos más folks y con la banda de fondo, rítmica. Es una canción con movimientos mucho más rítmicos que su canción anterior, lo que genera un buen ambiente disfrutable, es definitivamente una canción que me genera cierta sensación de “disfrute”. Resaltar un gran solo de violín con tintes folks, regalando colores y cambios gratos a la canción. Desde la parte vocal Ambre se logra escuchar de forma más natural, lo que nuevamente nos demuestra sus diversos aspectos vocales que permiten a las canciones tener otro tipo de ambientes.

Finalizando con Live the Tale, que destaca el gran trabajo de sintetizadores durante toda la canción, entregando una canción que invita a seguir el ritmo a su coro, no obstante, Xandria no pierde su identidad musical actual, dado a que te encuentras con trabajos corales de fondo que entregan más teatralidad a todo, siendo algo bello al oído. Además, se visualiza uso de técnica más “popular” pero no te confusas, se visualiza movimientos altos en ciertas partes de la canción, siendo un gran cierre para este EP.

Xandria returns to Chile and Latin America next October of this year, therefore, it is an opportunity to analyze their latest work, the EP Universal Tales, in order to know what we will witness in the next show of the band, generating an invitation on my part from the musical interest and generate what is currently called “hype”. 

Remember that prior to this work, they already presented their last LP The Wonders Still Awaiting, which was a letter of introduction for the new lineup of the band, from the leading hand of Marco Heubaum who has been in charge of the guitar, as well as much of the writing and production. In addition to welcoming the band's new lineup, consisting of vocalist Ambre Vourvahis, Tim Schwarz on bass, Dimitrios “Tacki” Gatsios on drums and Robert Klawonn on guitar. 

While this EP features four new songs, as well as an acoustic version of The Wonders Still Awaiting, and orchestral versions of the new songs, I want to focus only on the first four. 

The work begins with No Time to Live Forever with a masterful chorus that invites to an epic entrance where the band is presented in a powerful way, giving a great instrumental work, as well as symphonic. Next, Ambre makes a sweet presence delivering light to this piece, however, in the chorus part is where he displays his talent in his diverse vocal areas, since he makes impressive lyrical changes. A great song for symphonic metal fans that will leave you with a sweet taste in your mouth. It stands out in the middle part of the song great melodies in the voice of the vocalist, which again promotes the birth of this great song. It closes in a masterful way, with Ambre giving himself totally. Wonderful. 

Universal gives continuation to the work delivered by Xandria, again highlights the great work in the use of choral voices, which gives theatrical force to the song, it is a more rhythmic song, with more instrumental movements, where the work of electric strings gives more movements and a powerful drums that delivers power. The chorus is catchy, which invites to continue fighting, where I must thank the work in the lyrics of the current songs. Again in the middle part we can witness the great talent of Ambre, with sharpness in his sublime voice. For my part it is one of my favorites of this work, which I hope to hear soon in his show here in Chile on October 4th (below you will find the dates of his tour in Latin America). 
Now we find 200 Years, starting with more folksy sounds and with the band in the background, rhythmic. It is a song with much more rhythmic movements than their previous song, which generates a good enjoyable atmosphere, it is definitely a song that generates me a certain feeling of “enjoyment”. Highlight a great violin solo with folksy tints, giving colors and pleasant changes to the song. From the vocal part Ambre can be heard in a more natural way, which again shows us their diverse vocal aspects that allow the songs to have another type of atmosphere. 

Finishing with Live the Tale, which highlights the great work of synthesizers throughout the song, delivering a song that invites you to follow the rhythm to its chorus, however, Xandria does not lose its current musical identity, since you find choral works in the background that give more theatricality to everything, being something beautiful to the ear. In addition, the use of a more “popular” technique is visualized, but don't get confused, high movements are visualized in certain parts of the song, being a great closing for this EP.
